This post was fun to put together and I’m going to try to make these posts more frequently! I accumulate a lot of strange images on my phone. These are some of the more remarkable ones that have shown up since I moved back to Manila in June.
Some of these you might have seen if you follow me on Instagram, but others you might have not. I get asked why I repost images from Instagram on to my blog, and the reason is because i don’t really see myself as having much narrative control over Instagram. People view posts totally totally out of context unless they are stalking you, and even then you don’t have that much control over which images they really look at. I can’t really commit to storytelling on that app. I personally use Instagram to satisfy a visual candy itch – kind of like making icons for Livejournal back in the early 2000s. For more narrative control, I’d rather make blog posts.
